The skills and mindset learned through improvisation training are a unique, effective approach to strengthening the resilience and creative thinking skills clients need to navigate the uncertainties in life, especially during this period of disruption and change. Research shows improv is an effective intervention for reducing social anxiety as well as enhanced uncertainty tolerance, ability to engage in divergent thinking and well-being. It is a powerful pathway to being more adaptable, agile, creative and spontaneous on the stage of life and strengthens the mental and emotional agility to think under pressure.


Creative Engagement with Kids for Learning and Mental Health Goals

The rapid changes in daily life because of the pandemic present challenges for parents dealing with kids’ learning process. Teachers are pivoting to online teaching and therapists working to support parents and families. Through experiential exercises and discussion this workshop will look at the impact of individual temperament on learning and helps frame childrens’ needs, difficulties and strengths. This workshop uses the arts and creative strategies that can be applied to reading, science, math and other academic areas. You will learn creative, useful and highly engaging activities that encourage curiosity, flow of communication, creativity and collaboration that can be deployed in classes, therapy session or in parent-child interactions.


Improv with “Risk-Reluctant” Groups

This workshop will focus on ways to introduce, describe and facilitate improv exercises and games with groups that are not familiar with experiential methods or are in work cultures in which taking creative risks is challenging. Properly designed improv exercises can rapidly produce a shift from self-protective to creative mode and demonstrate the purpose and value of these experiences for the important work that teams in these environments are doing. Grounded in neuroscience and research showing that improvisation training increases uncertainty tolerance and divergent thinking, this workshop will be experiential and have opportunities to discuss applications for targeted groups.


Creative Play With Kids and Young Teens: Improv Games and Exercises For Teachers, Therapists and Parents
